Doors: 19:00
Showtime: 20:00

One of the main rising star artists in contemporary jazz

Chicagosta kotoisin oleva trumpetisti Marquis Hill lukeutuu kansainvälisen jazzkentän eturiviin. Palkitun Hillin sävellykset yhdistävät post-bopin, hiphopin ja R&B:n maailmoja, ja esimerkki hänen luomisvoimastaan on tuore “meditaatio-mixtape” Good Morning, jolla mukana on mm. Makaya McCraven. Nyt Marquis Hill saapuu G Livelabiin tähtiluokan Blacktet-kokoonpanonsa kanssa.

The Chicago-based trumpeter Marquis Hill is one of the leading voices in the contemporary jazz scene. The 2014 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition winner builds upon his distinctive sound to craft arresting originals that embrace post-bop, hiphop, R&B and spoken word.

“Hill takes inspiration from all types of black music and aims to blend diverse genres, synthesizing his songs together from many places.” – All About Jazz

“Dauntingly skilled trumpeter.” – The New York Times
